SALEM, NH- The votes have been tabulated, and Team Link Hooksett is the Combat Zone Team of the Year for 2014.
Team Link Hooksett, which is under the direction of Ed Carr and won a pair of CZ events last year, received 36.8% of the vote to narrowly edge John Fain’s Team Triumph, which came in a close second on 34.7% of the ballots.
Team Link Hooksett’s fighters put on memorable performances in their victories.
In his stunning comeback from a long layoff, 41-year-old Brent Kinberger scored a unanimous decision over Mervin Rodriguez in the pro main event of CZ 48, and teammate Nick Alley’s second round rear naked choke submission of Duncan Zachariah Smith was a highlight amateur fight on the CZ 49 card.
Team Link Hooksett’s roster boasts considerable talent, including top pros Kinberger and Kenny Murphy and highly-regarded amateurs Alley and Paul Gaffney.
Alley will climb back into the cage against the tough and talented JT Harold with the vacant amateur welterweight title up for grabs when Combat Zone returns to Rockingham Park on Friday, Jan. 30.
Check back soon to see if more Team Link Hooksett fighters will be on CZ 52’s all-amateur card that night.
